Apex by Drip
Drip Trading GmbH · Germany · since 2019
A/B testing platform for ecommerce brands and agencies that predicts which tests win, built on the world’s largest experiment corpus of 4.3 million A/B tests across 151,000 shops.
Best for Shopify and ecommerce teams that need broad consent-manager coverage, a specific DPA and working erasure
The verdict
Apex by Drip takes the top spot because it leads the two criteria this ranking weights heaviest. On consent it has the broadest coverage in the field: integrations for eight consent managers, Shopify’s Customer Privacy API read directly, Do Not Track honoured, and consent that can downgrade storage to memory only and clear the visitor ID outright. On contract it is equally specific: a data processing agreement under Article 28(3) whose subprocessor annex names each vendor’s legal entity, purpose, data categories, exact location and transfer mechanism, plus API routes that actually execute data export and erasure, a random 16-byte visitor ID with no fingerprinting anywhere in the SDK, no IP address column in the analytics schema at all, and a German vendor, Drip Trading GmbH in Traunstein, so the processor contract sits under German law. Two rivals still beat it where they beat it, and the honest reader should weigh that: Varify hosts on AWS in Frankfurt and sets no cookies at all, and Kameleoon holds ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type 2 and can render experiments without touching the device. Apex runs its security and compliance program in Drata with 295 tracked controls and has prepared an integrated SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001 and GDPR management-system audit package, but the SOC 2 audit has not begun, so there is no report and no certificate yet. Two facts are the open items that would widen the gap: the infrastructure sits in London (Vercel, Tinybird) and Ireland (Supabase) with Cloudflare edge delivery rather than in Germany, and the EU-only storage option in the settings is not yet effective, so an EU-only residency and the first SOC 2 report are what would move Apex further ahead.
Rating by Drip Trading GmbH, the company behind Apex by Drip. How we rate and weight
Strengths
- The only tool that predicts test outcomes: trained on 4.3M real A/B tests from 151k shops, it roughly doubles the average win rate (27% → 55%), twice the winners per testing budget.
- Commerce-native testing nobody else in this index matches: real charged-price tests (Shopify Cart Transform), shipping-cost tests and post-purchase experiments.
- A genuinely full stack: visual and code editors, AI-assisted variation building, feature flags with rollouts and schedules, personalization with built-in holdback measurement, heatmaps and session replay.
- Honest statistics: SRM gate, Holm-Bonferroni correction, optional always-valid sequential analysis, and revenue significance deliberately gated instead of over-promised.
- Serious platform surface for agencies: ~134-path public API with scoped keys, signed webhooks, CLI and MCP server, shareable QA preview links that work without a login, client roles and SAML SSO.
Weaknesses
- Young product (launched September 2026): no long public track record or review-site history yet.
- No server-side SDKs: server-side testing runs through a decide API and a deployable edge worker, so backend integration means raw HTTP, not a Node/PHP/Python library.
- Some surfaces ship entitlement-gated or as labs features (personalization dashboard, on-site editor): ask in the demo what is enabled for your plan.
- No pricing on the website; every engagement starts with a call.
The facts
| Statistics | Frequentist engine with deliberately conservative defaults: fixed-horizon testing with Holm-Bonferroni correction and a sample-ratio-mismatch gate, plus optional always-valid (mSPRT) sequential analysis. Revenue significance is intentionally held back after internal certification measured 20%+ false-positive rates on naive revenue tests. On top: win-rate prediction from the 4.3M-test corpus lifts the average program win rate from 27% to 55%. |
| Shopify | Shopify app that passed Shopify’s review (installs via OAuth from the dashboard; not App-Store-listed yet), plus WooCommerce, Shopware, Centra and custom storefronts. Unique in this index: real charged-price tests via Shopify Cart Transform, shipping-cost tests and post-purchase experiments. |
| Privacy & hosting | German vendor with European infrastructure: London (Vercel, Tinybird analytics) and Ireland (Supabase), Cloudflare edge delivery. Cookie/localStorage visitor IDs (365 days), no fingerprinting, visitor IPs never stored; integrations for 8 consent managers; DPA with subprocessor annex. |
| Pricing | Managed plans, scoped in a call. Book a demo to get a proposal for your shop. |
